Ceramic-Matrix and Metallic-Matrix Composites

Category General
Difficulty Level Normal
Audience Level General
Description Applications are determined by structures. In this course, students are taught to be informed about structures in nanoscales.
Overview
Structures have a great deal of influence on materials’ properties, and properties leads to find out materials’ application.

On top of that, in nanoscale, materials are manipulated to reach a specific structure for new applications. In one sense nanostructures are classified as zero, one, two and three dimensional structures. In addition, carbon nanostructures, porous materials, organic nanostructures and natural nanostructures are known classifications.

Booklet
Description
After a brief introduction, it explains what ceramics are, gives a brief history of ceramics, and talks about their properties. Then it talks about ceramic matrix (CMC) and metal matrix composites (MMC).

Mental Challenge
What are ceramic matrix and metal matrix composites?

Quizzes and Activities

Activity: In an assay compare MMCs and CMCs.
