The Color of Nanostructures in Nature

Category General
Difficulty Level Normal
Audience Level General
Description Applications are determined by structures. In this course, students are taught to be informed about structures in nanoscales.
Overview
Structures have a great deal of influence on materials’ properties, and properties leads to find out materials’ application.

On top of that, in nanoscale, materials are manipulated to reach a specific structure for new applications. In one sense nanostructures are classified as zero, one, two and three dimensional structures. In addition, carbon nanostructures, porous materials, organic nanostructures and natural nanostructures are known classifications.

Booklet
Description
It gives an introduction to nanostructural colors. Then it talks about blue Morpho butterfly colors and how color is developed in its wings. Then it talks about the application of nanostructral colors with some examples.

Mental Challenge
How can a blue Morpho butterfly be inspiring?

Quizzes and Activities

Activity: Find and fully explain an example of how blue structural colors inspire nanotechnology (in which field).
