Vision:
To make Oman Nano City an integrated center of excellence (innovation, research, education and entrepreneurship) of Nano based technology.
Mission:
This will be through knowledge transfer with international well-established industries in the field of Nano Technology.
Overview:
The Oman Nano City will encourage the private foreign investors. The slump in the world oil market and the emergence of the global financial and economic crisis requires new creative revenue generating options on the national level, to give Oman more diversification options. The Oman Nano City will focus on the following contributions to the economy of Oman:
- It will provide job opportunities for 50,000 people out of which 15,000 will be Omanis.
- It will help in the Growth of the Omani manufacturing industry. The phase one of the Oman Nano City will bring Oman 200 new manufacturing companies. The international statistics shows that for every $1.00 spent in manufacturing, another $1.40 is added to the economy.
- It will contribute towards solid economic growth at or above 2 per cent annually and will breath some life into the manufacturing sector in Oman.
- It will help to increase the GDP by 2.0 per cent, and will boost local construction output by 5 per cent.
- It will create linkages between industries, entrepreneurs, SMEs, universities and colleges in Oman and other countries who will join Oman Nano city.
- The Nano City Oman is a landmark that will offer outstanding infrastructure supported with the quality of services through professional teams and continuance support to manage and provide Nano based technology.
- The infrastructure cost (phase-1) will be around 300 million USD to set up 200 Nano industries and three (3) research and development centers.
Governing and Management Structure:
Social and Economic Impact of Nano City on Oman:
Job opportunities: It will provide job opportunities for 50,000 people out of which 15,000 will be Omanis. It also supports non-manufacturing jobs up and down the supply chain, from mining to warehousing, as well as engineering, financial, and legal services, the Economic Policy Institute in USA has found that each manufacturing job supports three other jobs in the wider economy, through something called “the multiplier effect.” That is, the wages from manufacturing employees are re-spent in other parts of the economy, because manufacturing adds so much value to the economy.
- Landmark: The Oman Nano City Oman will be a landmark that will offer outstanding infrastructure supported with the quality of services through professional teams and continuance support to manage and provide Nano based technology.
- Economy diversity from oil and Gas Sector: will help in developing high-quality manufacturing sector in Oman and will help to increase the GDP by 2.0 percent and will boost local construction output by 5 per cent.
- Encourage foreign investors: The phase one of the Oman Nano City will bring Oman 200 new manufacturing companies and will breath some life into the manufacturing sector in Oman.
- Create linkages: between industry, universities and colleges, schools and Research institutions, and will contribute towards developing alternative perspectives for quality in schools, higher education and training institutions, though providing on job training and experiential learning opportunities.
- Trade sector: will help to develop through trading the manufactured goods. According to the World Trade Organization, 80% of inter-regional trade is in goods, and only 20% is in services.
- National power: depends to a great extent on manufacturing power. Over the last 100 years, the “Great Powers”, or most powerful four or five countries, have controlled about 75 percent of global industrial production.
- Will add Value: according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, every dollar spent in manufacturing generates $1.48 in economic activity, more than any other major economic sector.
- Innovation: Will be the engine that drives Oman innovation, through transforming laboratory research into new products, innovations give manufacturers the performance or cost edge they need to compete in international marketplace.

What is nano technology?
Everyone has heard about the word of “Nano”. For example, you have seen nano products in the market, or have heard of it on the news that scientists have succeeded in developing a new product by using nanotechnology or doing some important research. Today, we're going to talk a little bit about this technology and generally see what nanotechnology is, where it can be used, and what the future holds for it.
First of all, let's see, what the word of nano, which may seem a bit strange at a first glance, means. Nano is actually a unit of measuring length, such as meters or centimeters. As you know, a centimeter is a unit smaller than a meter, and a nanometer is very much smaller than a centimeter. Nanotechnology is actually the science of studying various materials in this very small unit, so it is really looking at the properties and characteristics of different materials on an atomic scale. More precisely, nanotechnology can be defined as: "Nanotechnology is a field of engineering and technology that examines nano sized materials that means from1 to 100 nm."
What is STEAM?
Rather than teaching Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Art as separate and discrete subjects, STEAM integrates them into “interdependent” learning units based on real-world applications. Schools are starting STEAM-based learning programs to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the 21st century. STEAM learning will not only produce tomorrow's designers and engineers; it will develop innovative mindsets and the ability to problem-solve, ensuring that our students become creators of technology, not just passive consumers. The following items are identified as STEAM advantages.
Students who participate in STEAM learning:
- think outside the box
- feel safe to express innovative and creative ideas
- feel comfortable doing hands-on learning
- take ownership over their learning
- work collaboratively with others
- understand the ways that science, math, the arts, and technology work together
- Become increasingly curious about the world around them and feel empowered to change it for the better.
This approach will support the development of versatile professionals for the evolving workplace. Developing this program leads to creativity as well as multidisciplinary models in industry, business, and education. Through academic restructuring of traditional educational models, this curriculum will be at the forefront of engaging learners in team-based multidisciplinary problem solving through mentoring, learning communities, research projects, and partnerships with outside agencies. The program is a model for the education of scientists who will be able to create innovations in modern science and technology necessary to address the complex problems facing human society.
What and why Global Nano Educational?
Nanotechnology is one of those new technologies over which humans have discovered interesting unimaginable concepts. Nano science is an intangible interdisciplinary science in which educating is the first and most difficult step. Education leads to cognition; cognition is the point that students think creatively. As nanoscience concepts are not as usual as other subjects, STEAM approach is the best way to incorporate nano science in a pragmatic educational approach.
On this site you can easily identify everything that is still unknown subject in related to nanotechnology for you. Nano science has been interesting subject in different scientific fields for students and researchers. All needed concepts of nanotechnology are presented in short video lesson-based models.
