Antibacterial Surfaces in Buildings

Category General
Difficulty Level Normal
Audience Level General
Description Nanoscience has a wide range of effects on other industries. In this course, a huge amount of information in regards with the role of nanoscience in industries is presented.
Overview
Rapid development of nanotechnology is often considered as a fundamental revolution in technology and is compared with the discovery of antibiotics, television, nuclear weapons, and computer technologies. Nanotechnology is a key technology and refers to a wide range of scientific and technological activities that study and work with phenomena or properties at nanometer scale (around 0.1-100nm; one nanometer is one millionth of a meter). Introducing current and potential applications is as significant as education. In this course, nanotechnology applications in textile, agriculture, oil and gas, automotive, environment, sports and nutrition industry are reported.

Booklet
Description
It starts with an introduction. Talks about surfaces with antibacterial, antimicrobial, and self-cleaning coatings. Then nanoparticles which are used on antibacterial surfaces are discussed. These include silver and copper nanoparticles. Then it ends with the use of nanotechnology in order to omit environmental atmosphere pollution at home and at work.

Mental Challenge
Why are nanomaterials used in hospitals?

Quizzes and Activities

Activity: Research on the exact use of antibacterial surfaces in public places. And find out if nano can help them.
