In Situ Synthesis of Nanoparticles in Textiles

Category General
Difficulty Level Normal
Audience Level General
Description Nanoscience has a wide range of effects on other industries. In this course, a huge amount of information in regards with the role of nanoscience in industries is presented.
Overview
Rapid development of nanotechnology is often considered as a fundamental revolution in technology and is compared with the discovery of antibiotics, television, nuclear weapons, and computer technologies. Nanotechnology is a key technology and refers to a wide range of scientific and technological activities that study and work with phenomena or properties at nanometer scale (around 0.1-100nm; one nanometer is one millionth of a meter). Introducing current and potential applications is as significant as education. In this course, nanotechnology applications in textile, agriculture, oil and gas, automotive, environment, sports and nutrition industry are reported.

Booklet
Description
It starts with an introduction, goes through in-situ synthesis of Cu nanoparticles on the nylon surface of the textile. Then it talks about the in-situ synthesis of silver nanoparticles on cotton textile. Afterwards, it goes through coating methods by nanostructured materials and explains these methods.

Mental Challenge
Can nanocoatings be used for finishing textiles?

Quizzes and Activities

Activity: Research other available methods for nanocoatings (in experiments or practice).
