Overview
Rapid development of nanotechnology is often considered as a fundamental revolution in technology and is compared with the discovery of antibiotics, television, nuclear weapons, and computer technologies. Nanotechnology is a key technology and refers to a wide range of scientific and technological activities that study and work with phenomena or properties at nanometer scale (around 0.1-100nm; one nanometer is one millionth of a meter). Introducing current and potential applications is as significant as education. In this course, nanotechnology applications in textile, agriculture, oil and gas, automotive, environment, sports and nutrition industry are reported.

It starts with an introduction, then it talks about textile finishing and how it is classified in two classes: mechanical and chemical finishing. After this explanation, it talks about nanotechnology in textile finishing. Afterwards, it talks about how nanostructures in textile finishing are classified in three categories and briefly explains each of them. Finally it talks about textile finishing by nanomaterials in different kinds of textiles such as antimicrobial, self-cleaning and moisture absorbent.
